Pike River Mine Re-Entered?

Image result for pike river mine re entered
Three people opened the doors to the mine, checked the draft condition and came out. It's their first step in the 36 million dollar plan to explore the 2.3 km-long entry tunnel to search for clues as to what caused the mine to explode. Their previous attempt had failed because of high levels of oxygen that made it potentially unsafe to enter.

The Pike River Mine disaster was a mining accident that occurred around nine years ago on 19 November 2010. There were 31 miners at the time and only 2 miners survived. There was another explosion on 24 November. Police believed the remaining 29 men to be dead. The mine hasn't been entered since.

New Zealand Sign Language Week!!!

On Monday and Tuesday morning, Jessica, Riiana and I did a presentation in front of our school staff to raise awareness of Sign Language week.

As shown in the video Riiana and I each memorised a sentence, Jessica then learnt the sentences in sign language! The sentence that I had to memorise was, "We have been working on learning and colouring in posters for sign language week".

Riiana's sentence was, "We have two different posters, one with numbers, the other with words".

Later on I signed the alphabet, the teachers were very amused.

Cooking Is Awesome!

On Wednesday last week we had our first day back at Tech! Joanlisi and I made a really delicious dish, which was potato salad with ham and egg.
Method:
Step 1. Boil water.
Step 2. Peel potatoes and cut into small pieces.
Step 3. Dice the onions.
Step 4. Boil the potatoes until they're soft. While boiling the potatoes boil an egg as well.
Step 5. Dice the ham into little squares.
Step 6. Take the egg out after 5-7 minutes, remove the eggshell then slice into smaller pieces.
Step 7. Drain the potatoes and then mix them into a bowl with the ham, egg and onion.
Step 8. Add some mayonnaise and a pinch of salt.
Step 9. Serve and enjoy!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Today Room 12 participated in a class session called KiwiCan.

First our tutors introduced themselves, their names were: Miss Tuia and Mrs Mac, Mrs Mac was filling in for our other tutor Mr Matt. When we were seated Mrs Tuia talked about our theme and topic. We change our theme every term and topic every three weeks. Our theme and topic for this term was integrity and honesty. We did a few of activities and later asked questions. The games we played were Bang, Changing Seats and GKQ (General Knowledge Questions).

I really enjoyed KiwiCan today, it was super fun. I can't wait to do it again next week Tuesday.
